Kikay Booba, Content Creator, Shares Heartbreaking Story of Security Guard

Content creator Kikay Booba, also known as Cheska Consunji Reyes, shared the sad story of a security guard who went viral. The guard was allegedly forced to remove a Sampaguita vendor from the mall.  

Kikay Booba, deeply moved by the incident, revealed the guard’s background. She explained that the guard, originally from Mindanao, had worked in a Manila mall for 20 years. His decision to stay in Manila, far from his family, came with sacrifices, including his wife leaving him.  

Despite his struggles, the guard stayed in Manila to support his son and four other family members. Kikay Booba shared that now unemployed, the guard couldn’t tell his sick mother about his situation, fearing it might worsen her health. He also faced depression due to his many challenges.

“Hindi niya ngayon masabi sa nanay niya na nawalan siya ng trabaho dahil may sakit ‘yung nanay niya, at hindi niya rin alam kung paano niya tutustusan ‘yung limang umaasa sa kanya,” she said. “At the same time he was really depressed hindi siya makausap, kasi syempre patong patong na ‘yung nangyari sa kanya,” she added.

Reyes described the guard's situation as unfair, pointing out that many quickly judged him without knowing his side. She emphasized his honesty and dedication to his job and family, expressing the pain of seeing him treated harshly despite his years of hard work.  

The mall’s management decided to ban the security guard from working at any of its locations in the future. However, his security agency clarified that he wasn’t fired but was temporarily on leave while the investigation was ongoing. The Philippine National Police (PNP) also considered the possibility of canceling his license due to the incident.  

Meanwhile, a man claiming to be the security guard involved in the Sampaguita vendor incident spoke out in a video. He explained that he was simply following his duties, stating that the vendor was uncooperative and that he had no intention of harming her. He defended his actions, saying they were part of his job responsibilities.
