The Tanay LGU considered prohibiting tourists from staying along the well-known Marilaque Highway after a hazardous motorcycle stunt led to one fatality and several injuries.

As reported, Tanay intends to implement an ordinance banning speeding, dangerous motorcycle stunts, and preventing tourists from lingering near the highway.

PLTCOL. Norman Cas-oy, Chief of Police of the Tanay Municipal Police Station, stated that they plan to enhance police visibility along the highway to deter speeding and risky stunts by motorcycle riders.

They suspected that hobbyist vloggers and photographers in the area were motivating motorcycle riders to perform dangerous stunts.

However, PNP Tanay acknowledged that riders might simply seek other areas within Marilaque without police presence to perform their stunts.

Last weekend, motorcycle riders John Louie Arguelles and Recs Akmad were racing along Marilaque and performing a "Superman" stunt when they lost control approaching a sharp curve.

The two crashed into the road barrier and collided with several tourists. Arguelles tragically passed away, leaving behind a three-year-old child, while Akmad, who was hospitalized, responded to public criticism by stating that people were unaware of the full story behind the incident.
